Providing World-Class Healthcare

The Mission of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System is to care for the whole person—body, mind and spirit—providing the highest quality healthcare to all our patients. At the center of St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System is the flagship St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, founded in 1954 by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.

Committed to providing a premier network of community hospitals, physician clinics and outpatient facilities serving the Greater Houston community, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System also includes St. Luke’s Community Medical Center—The Woodlands; Kelsey-Seybold Management, LLP, overseeing 18 area clinic locations; St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital, scheduled to open in 2008; and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities, the largest public charity in Houston devoted solely to healthcare for the underserved.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital is home to the Texas Heart? Institute, founded in 1962 by Denton A. Cooley, MD, and is consistently ranked among the top 10 cardiology and heart surgery centers in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. In 2006, St. Luke’s was also recognized in three other specialties: Digestive Disorders, Orthopaedics, and Ear, Nose & Throat. St. Luke’s is affiliated with several nursing and medical schools.

St. Luke’s reputation is not only a result of our breakthrough medical and surgical innovations, but also of our superb team of caregivers as evidenced by our being the first hospital in Texas to receive designation as a Magnet hospital for Nursing Excellence.
